Home Learning letter 5th Jan

05 January 2021

Dear Parents and Carers

In light of the government’s decision to close schools as part of a national lockdown we have put together our home learning provision. We have tried to make home learning as accessible as possible for all our children with a mix of paper work and online learning available. The work set will include a consolidation of work from the Autumn term as this should allow the children to access lots of the learning independently and only need adult support where indicated. It is crucial that we do not rush children’s learning even in this uncertain time as it can be hard to address misconceptions upon children’s return to school.

We have set up a timetable that mirrors much of what we would be doing in school this half term. The expectation is that your child works for a minimum of 3 hours at home during lockdown so the work set should reflect this. Work is set on a two-week cycle. The first work pack can be collected on Wednesday 6th January and needs to be completed and returned to school on Wednesday 20th January, when the next pack of work will be given to you. Work will then be marked by class teachers and a feedback form will be sent to you by email.

Class teachers can be contacted via their school email address. They will then respond back to you between 1pm and 3pm. This could be to support with work that your child has found difficult or talk through something that your child has done that they would like to share. Please understand the pressure on our staff at this difficult time and we appreciate your support and trust in us to work with you as best we can. Phone calls to all children will take place every 3 weeks – week beginning 18th January and week beginning 8th February but please do not hesitate to contact your child’s teacher by email whenever necessary.

Here is a timetable for collecting compulsory work packs from the Main office area.

Reception class and any sibling group (all years): 9am to 10am

Year 1 and Year 2: 10am to 11am

Year 3 and Year 4: 11am to 12pm

Year 5 and Year 6: 12pm to 1pm

Work packs can be collected from school Wednesday to Friday. Please ensure you wear a face mask when collecting and also ensure you stick to your collection times to minimise gatherings. All packs will be uploaded to our website where you will also find all the latest information and letters.
