Coronavirus (COVID 19): Updated School Attendance Arrangements

Since Monday 1 June 2020 St Bartholomew’s has welcomed students in Nursery, Reception, Year 1 and Year 6 as well as the vulnerable children and children of critical workers who have attended throughout the lockdown period. These children have remained in family groups/bubbles and have been with the same member of staff each day in their designated area of school. The situation has been managed very well by parents and teachers, and the children themselves have impressed me with their maturity and understanding of the issues. The support and understanding of parents is greatly appreciated.

The Government’s aim had been for all primary school children to have returned to school before the summer break, however, this is now not possible and parents should be aware that their Year 2, 3, 4 or 5 child will not return to school before September. Of course, we will keep you updated with all developments and return to school plans as they are produced.

Procedures for 22 June 2020 onwards Nursery, Reception, Year 1, Year 6 and children of Critical Worker ONLY

If your child is in either Nursery, Reception, Year 1 or Year 6 and is currently attending school this should continue unchanged. Your child should attend school every day and the usual rules and procedures regarding absence and illness apply. Please refer to the original letter, distributed to all on 22 May 2020 (and copied to the school website).

We are not able to take any extra Nursery children, but if your child is in Reception, Year 1 or Year 6 and not yet attending, spaces are available for them to attend from Monday 22 June 2020. Please contact the school via telephone 01299 823454, or email office@sbp.saet.co.uk no later than Monday 15 June 2020 to request a space.

We also have a limited number of spaces for the children of critical workers. Parents should also contact school before 15 June. If there is a high demand for places we may ask parents to verify their key worker status via their employer.

Procedures for all children

St Bartholomew’s teachers will continue with their best endeavours to provide all age groups with work packs either online or as paper copies if requested and both Oak Academy and BBC Bitesize are providing updated resources for home schooling for all age groups.

Over the coming weeks, you will receive a letter outlining teachers and classrooms for September. Nursery pupils will also receive transition packs with all information required for those about to start in Reception.

Thank you for your continued support for our school and our children in these testing times.
